HDPE: plastic has many characteristics that make it a highly valuable raw material for a large number of industries. It is a thermoplastic polymer, the same as PET, but with greater resistance.
Characteristics of HDPE: Plastic
Resistant
First of all, we must say that HDPE: Plastic is highly resistant to temperature, impact, and some chemical products. Therefore, for the packaging sector, it is ideal to contain and protect chemicals or agrochemicals.
Safe
It is a colorless, tasteless, and non-toxic material, a resin that is internationally approved to be in contact with food and other products for human and animal consumption.
Flexible
HDPE: Plastic is a material that is very easy to work with, it can be adapted to very diverse shapes and different thicknesses, depending on the needs.
Light
For the resistance it has against high temperatures and corrosion, it is a low-weight plastic resin and, in addition, it has a highly competitive price in the market against other options.
Recyclable
HDPE: Plastic is 100% recyclable, so with proper treatment, it can be reintegrated into the production chain to reduce plastic waste.
Applications
Its greatest use is indeed for the container and packaging sector, however, to say that it is unique is extremely narrow, in the construction industry it is used for the manufacture of pipes or waterproofing. Similarly, at home, it is used in everyday items such as toys, containers, helmets, and knee pads, among others. In the case of the medical industry, it has begun to be used in applications for making prostheses, in the automotive industry we can find it for different car accessories, and even the implementation of pallets made of this material is already a reality.
